Ron McDowell is a self-taught artist whose paintings are about light
and form. Subject matter varies, often featuring the figure. His
medium today is largely oils. McDowell's works hang in public and private collections thoughout the U.S., and in homes of fellow artists, among them such notables as Walt Gonske and Wilson Hurley.

Ron was born in upper New York state but was reared in Cheyenne, Wyoming where his father retired from 20 years of military service.
Having come from a talented family lineage of artists and musicians,
it was no surprise that his talent was recognized early in elementary school where he began illustrating the school paper. He excelled in art throughout his school years, and with parental encouragement,
had his first one-man show at a local bank. At 15, he sold out in that show.
