A native of Mora, New Mexico, Vince Valdez (b. 1940) moved to the equality state of Wyoming in 1953. Following a two year hitch in the army, he returned from Okinawa in 1964 to pursue a twenty year career in law enforcement. He enrolled at the University of Wyoming to study art, while doubling as a detective, polygraph examiner, and composite artist with the Laramie Police Department. Upon his retirement from law enforcement, he embarked on a new career as an artist. His works include sculptures of North American and African wildlife characterized by elements of realism, expressionism, and abstract design.

Exhibitions include the Annual Sculpture in the Park in Loveland, Colorado, Allied Artist of America, North American Sculpture Exhibition, and Audubon National Art Exhibition of Alaskan Wildfire.
