Elizabeth Sandia has an extensive professional background in art as a magazine illustrator, advertising art director, and residential architectural designer. In 1995 she gave up her design practive in Key West and moved to New Mexico to devote her time to painting. Sandia is strongly attracted to the patterns, shapes, and colors of the West. Sandia's work has been featured in American Art Collector, Pastelagram, Art Talk, The Pastel Journal, Southwest Art, International Artist, Trail and Timeberline, Focus/Santa Fe, American Artist, The Artist's Magazine, Palet & Tekenstift magazine (Netherlands), Wildlife Art, and Pastel Artist International. Sandia's work also appears in the book 200 Great Painting Ideas for Artists. Three of her works hang in the U.S. Embassy in Turkey. In addition, Sandia is a signature member of the Pastel Society of America and has been a long time participant in the annual Coors Western Art Exhibit and Sale at the National Western Stock Show in Denver.
